Meet the Committee

Committee Head: Trevor Colliton (New York Coordinator)

Hello debaters! My name is Trevor Colliton, a Legal Studies major at the City University of New York (CUNY). I am excited to get to work as the Expansion Committee Chairperson, while also continuing in my duties as Region 3 (New York) Coordinator. Having started my own team from scratch three years ago, I understand many of the challenges associated with becoming regularly competitive on APDA. Having served on the committee since Fall 2015, I have built numerous friendships with leaders from teams who’ve struggled with campus recognition, recruiting barriers, budgetary constraints, travel complexities, a lack of institutional history, and/or were simply were out of the loop concerning informational resources openly available. No issue is too “small” or “insignificant” to hit up myself or your region’s expansion coordinator; we all care about you, your teammates, and the future of your program because we’ve seen firsthand how this opportunity has impacted those around us. I adore you for striving to provide your fellow students access to a debate program, for I know the tremendous effort it takes. Feel free to contact me at any time via or Best of luck, and hope to see you around soon!

Northeastern Coordinator: Pasha Temkin

Hi all! My name is Pasha Temkin, a Junior at Rutgers majoring in Philosophy and Computer Science. I am the Expansion Coordinator for the Northeastern region. Before coming to APDA, I debated and coached Public Forum debate. On APDA, I enjoy running cases about modern and historical International Relations, reparations, and literature. When I’m not doing debate, I work as a software developer, shop for clothes on the internet, and procrastinate my philosophy readings. Please reach out and say hi!

Mid-Atlantic Coordinator: Jackson Ganem

Southern Coordinator: Harrison Kern

Hi Everyone! My name is Harrison Kern and I’m so excited to serve as your Southern Expansion Coordinator for the upcoming year! I’m a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.  I competed in Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, and Worlds School debate for 4 years in high school, and have been fairly active in APDA this year.  Coming from a small debate school with little funding, I recognize the importance of creating opportunities for new schools to develop a presence in the league, and I can’t wait to start working with expansion schools!

Western Coordinator: Andrew Hamilton

Hi everyone! I’m Andrew, the expansion coordinator for the West (which includes the West Coast, Midwest and everything in between). I’m a sophomore at the University of Chicago majoring in Economics and Political science, but I’m originally from Montreal, Canada. As an APDA debater, I enjoy international relations and policy debates – as long as my partner doesn’t make me MO. Outside debate, I enjoy my morning crossword and watching soccer, and yes I am less than 70 years old.
